In series p¨ti passaddhi sam¤dhi upekkh¤ under sambojjhanga (with eleven means of cultivation: see Vism 132 & VbhA 282). -- Phrase p¨tiy¤ sar¨ra¸ pharati "to pervade or thrill the body with joy" (aor. phari), at J I.33; V.494; DhA II.118; IV.102; all passages refer to p¨ti as the fivefold p¨ti, pa¾cava¼¼¤ p¨ti, or joy of the 5 grades (see Dhs. trsl. 11, 12, and Cpd. 56), viz. khuddik¤ (slight sense of interest), kha¼ik¤ (momentary joy), okkantik¤ (oscillating interest, flood of joy), ubbeg¤ (ecstasy, thrilling emotion), and phara¼¤ p¨ti (interest amounting to rapture, suffusing joy).
